Q: Why can’t Georgia Tech beat UGA consistently in football?
GPB: We can and we have, it’s just that this particular rivalry moves in fits and spurts. In fact, the Jackets have the longest winning streak in the rivalry, eight in a row. Take a look at the 2008 media guide section on opponent history.
Q: Boxers or briefs?
GPB: Sometimes boxers, sometimes briefs…sometimes both.
Q: Why can’t I park anywhere I want on campus?
GPB: Are you a handicapped diplomat? We have 19,000 students, 6,000 faculty and staff and 120,000 alumni. If we had enough parking for everyone, we’d run out of white paint.
Q: Why has the Snuggie caught on so well? I don’t get it?
GPB: I don’t necessarily understand it either but those that own one seem to love it. Word of mouth is a powerful thing.
Q: Is there really a time capsule buried on campus?
GPB: Yes, sealed under an outside staircase at the Student Center. It was buried in 1985 and will re-open in 2035. It includes a rat cap, paper Varsity hat and a basketball signed by the team. Rumors of a chicken tender basket from Junior’s being there have not been confirmed.
Q: I need to buy a Father’s Day present and I’m all out of ideas.
GPB: How about a Snuggie?
Q: I have not seen my Dad since I was ten, however one of the things that I remember has to do with Ga Tech. I have been told by several relatives that he attended Georgia Tech. I do not have the year(s) but I recall that when I was born, the military had him stationed out of the country. I was also told that he was in Ga Tech when drafted. Is there any way that I can track down more information?
GPB: This comes up every now and again. Our policy is to only provide such information to other GT alumni. That said, we can forward your contact information to the Georgia Tech graduate and he/she would take it from there. If you’d like to do this, just send an e-mail to our Director of Bio Data Processing.
